Hot Fuzz analysis
The clip used is “Hot Fuzz the Battle of Sanford”
In the scene I am analysing they use a lot of editing
techniques to make it a more effective scene, in the scene there is barely any
dialogue which adds to the tension of the battle. Also the type of scene used
is a Wild West theme and atmosphere. Also constant jump cuts between two of the
characters. the use of sound in the scene is good, there is barely any dialougue which adds to the suspense. the lighting is good because it is in the middle of the day which means that its broad daylight so we can get a clear understanding of what is going on.

Sherlock Holmes Opening Scene
Sherlock Holmes Opening Scene
In the opening scene of Sherlock Holmes there is dialogue, sounds of horses footsteps, a thud when he jumped of the step, a horse neigh, the sound of a gun loading, heavy breathing and running also the wheels of the carriage made noise along with the chains that the horses are attached to.
The use of sound in the opening scene is good because the music sets a good scene with the drums and piano, also it is a very quite opening scene because of very little dialogue used, the only dialogue was when Sherlock Holmes was breathing heavily.
The lighting in the scene is not the best because it is dull, dark and you can slightly not see what is going on in the scene.

sound in film
Sound in film.
What is sound?
Sound is made up of continuous vibrations, these vibrations
travel through the air and can be heard when they reach a person’s ear,
different volumes of sound produce different kinds of sounds to our eardrums. Sound
in film has to be mixed carefully so sounds are emphasized for the correct
atmosphere.
Diegetic:
Diegetic sound is sound who’s source is visible on the
screen, also it is implied to be present by the action of the film. It is any
sound presented as originated from sources from the films world. It can be
either on screen or off screen depending on if the source is inside or outside
the frame, this type of sound can be used to create many different meanings to
an audience.
Non Diegetic:
Sound who’s source is neither visible on the screen nor has
been implied to be present in the action. It is represented as coming from a
source outside the story space. The distinction between non diegetic and
diegetic depends on the understanding of the conventions of film viewing and
listening.
Silence:
Films and TV shows are barely completely silent, but the
effect is sometimes used to get a reaction from the audience.
Voice over:
The voice of an actor or actress, the voice often informs
the audience but can sometimes push them in wrong narrative directions.

3 still images:
In this image Emily Rose has wet hair and is emotional, the lighting in this screenshot is good because there is light behind her, her positioning on the screen is good because she is on one side of the screen and it shows what is behind her.
In this image the priest has his back turned to the doors where it shows it is raining outside and is night time. There is a man standing by the door and because of the light coming from outside he has a shadow. The positioning of the screenshot is good because it shows everything such as light; shadows etc and the two characters are both in the shot.
In this screenshot the positioning is good because two characters are both in shot, the lighting is decent because we can clearly see the characters. there are no shadows of the characters.
